Background 

Matt grew up around the financial service industry. Matt’s dad, Chris, founded Cornerstone Wealth Management in 2008 after his transition from Edward Jones. Matt formally joined the Cornerstone team in 2013. He earned his degree in Business administration with a minor in sports management from Western Oregon University. While in college Matt was also a member of the baseball team and was named to the Dean’s list. Matt also spent some time at Oregon State University during his college career. 

Role at Cornerstone
Since joining Cornerstone, Matt has played a key role in developing investment strategies and evaluating opportunities to meet each client’s unique financial needs. He earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation in 2017, which allows him to help clients build tailored financial plans that support their retirement goals, wealth management needs, and other major life milestones. 

Community & Personal

Matt is active in the Canby community. Currently, he is a member of the Rotary Club of Canby and volunteers as an assistant baseball coach at Canby High School. 

Outside the office, Matt enjoys traveling with his family, playing golf, fishing, and coaching youth sports. He and his wife, Lauren, are raising three children, Owen, Sterling, and Emerson.

Mitch Magenheimer, PPC®

Background
Mitch was born and raised about 10 miles south of Canby in the Molalla area. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business Management from Oregon State University and began his career as a financial analyst in commercial agricultural lending. Mitch transitioned to wealth management in 2005 and joined Cornerstone Wealth Management as a Partner and Financial Advisor in 2010, bringing over 25 years of financial industry experience. 

Role at Cornerstone
Mitch works with clients to create comprehensive financial strategies that support retirement planning, investment management, business retirement plans, and life insurance. He specializes in helping business owners, farmers, and clients in real estate and small business evaluate their financial resources and seek to plan confidently for the future. Mitch draws on his agricultural business background to offer unique insights, while his goal is always to understand each client’s story and help them pursue their long-term objectives.

Community & Personal
Deeply connected to his community, Mitch serves as an Elder at Foothills Community Church and sits on the board of Direct Link. He is actively involved in the Canby Rotary Club, leads as President of the Whiskey Hill Kids Soccer Club, and contributes to local scholarship efforts. Mitch also coaches youth soccer and baseball, reflecting his commitment to mentorship and community engagement.

Outside the office, he enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his wife, Sara, and their four children. Together, they raise livestock and farm, embracing a hands-on, family-centered lifestyle.

Kassin Hopkins

Background

Kassin grew up in Kahlotus, Washington, a town of about 150 people, where she learned how to raise cattle and showed them at the county fair every year. Kassin made her way to Oregon following an opportunity to pursue a bachelor’s degree and play women’s basketball at Willamette University. She joined Cornerstone in 2022 as the first face you see when you walk in the door and has since accelerated into the role of Financial Advisor.

Role at Cornerstone

As a Financial Advisor at Cornerstone Wealth Management, Kassin works closely with individuals and families to create practical, personalized financial strategies. She helps clients seek to build strong foundations through budgeting guidance, thoughtful investment management, retirement planning, and insurance coordination. Kassin strives to serve as a trusted day-to-day resource for many clients, leading review meetings, implementing portfolio adjustments, assisting with account transitions, and helping navigate important financial decisions seeking for clarity. She has experience supporting individuals through job changes and retirement account rollovers. Her approach is grounded in education and transparency, while aiming to ensure clients understand their options and feel confident moving forward.

Community & Personal

Kassin is an active member of the Canby Area Chamber of Commerce and serves on the board of directors for the Nothing but Net Charity Basketball Tournament in Canby. She finds value in networking with local businesses and engaging in meaningful projects in the community.

Outside of the office, Kassin enjoys playing basketball, golfing, wine tasting, baking for the team, reading, and traveling.

Jessica Cerne

Background

Jessica grew up in Enumclaw, Washington and made her way to Oregon in 2018. Jessica attended Lewis & Clark College, where she competed as a two-sport athlete in women's basketball and the heptathlon in track and field. She began her career in the financial industry as a college intern in 2021 and has worked with business retirement plans throughout her professional experience. 

Role at Cornerstone

Jessica joined Cornerstone Wealth Management in May 2024 as a Registered Administrative Associate. Her work sits at the intersection of client service and operations. She coordinates meetings, handles account paperwork, processes transfers and updates, and works with custodians and third-party partners to keep operations running smoothly. Since the start of her career, Jessica has worked alongside business owners to help manage and support their 401(k) plans. She also serves as a liaison between advisors and clients to maintain clear and consistent communication. What she values most about this work is the people. Every client has a story about what shaped them, and through those conversations, she learns something new about life every day.

Jessica has been a member of the Rotary Club of Portland since 2022 and currently serves on the club board. She is deeply passionate about her role in Rotary and leads her club in service projects. 

Outside the office, Jessica enjoys playing pickup basketball, coaching young athletes, snowboarding at Mt. Hood Meadows in winter, golfing in summer, and working on arts and crafts projects at home.

Background

Jonathan joined Cornerstone Wealth Management in 2024. Originally from Molalla and now based in Oregon City, he is completing his Bachelor’s degree in Business with a focus in Finance at Portland State University. With more than ten years of customer service experience, Jonathan transitioned into financial services to apply his skills in a more rewarding and professional setting, where he helps clients navigate their financial journeys with confidence and care. He is currently preparing for the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) Exam, further strengthening his expertise and professional development within the financial services industry.

Role at Cornerstone

As Administrative Assistant at Cornerstone Wealth Management, Jonathan supports the team by managing client communications, processing paperwork efficiently, answering calls, and ensuring a smooth, welcoming experience for clients. His commitment to organization and responsiveness helps the firm deliver the thoughtful service clients expect.

Community & Personal

Jonathan lives in Oregon City with his wife, Haley, and their cat, Sampson. Outside of work, he enjoys the outdoors, sports, road trips, coffee, and traveling, whether exploring a new trail or planning the next adventure.

Lauren Stutes

Background

Lauren has been with the Cornerstone team since 2021. Lauren graduated from Western Oregon University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. Previously, she worked as a logistics manager. 

Role at Cornerstone

Lauren works part-time in the office overseeing bookkeeping and supporting day-to-day operations. She helps ensure the office runs efficiently and thoughtfully, regularly identifying ways to enhance organization, workflow, and the overall team experience.

Community & Personal

Lauren and her husband Matt spend their time outside of the office raising their three children, Owen, Sterling, and Emerson. Lauren enjoys spending time outside, cooking, doing puzzles and hanging out with her family and friends.  



Chris Stutes, JD

Background

Chris began his financial advising career with Edward Jones in 1992 after leaving his law practice in Louisiana. In 2007, Chris joined LPL Financial and founded Cornerstone Wealth Management. Chris graduated from Louisiana State University with a BS in Business and then earned his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola School of Law in New Orleans.

 Role at Cornerstone

As a former advisor, Chris provided financial planning and asset management for over 30 years. At this point in his career, he serves as a consultant for other advisors and staff on the team. His deep understanding of the industry and wealth of knowledge and experience makes him a vital asset to our team. His background in law also allows him to provide insight on more than just the financial markets and planning.

Community & Personal

Involvement in the Canby community is a priority for Chris as he has served the area in a variety of ways. He has been a youth sports coach for over 20 years and has sat on numerous community civic boards. A previous member in the Canby Area Chamber of Commerce and active in The Rotary Club of Canby, he has served a year as president for both organizations. Chris and his wife, Suzy, have two sons, Mike and Matt. Chris has been a sports enthusiast throughout his life whether it was coaching his sons or rooting for the LSU Tigers. Today, he prefers fishing, traveling, and spending time with his 5 grandsons and granddaughter.
